I’ve always been
white light
as far
back as I recollect
pure
&
drab
then you came
dark swirls
of
lust
over my limbs
knotted
legs and
scratched
backs
peppered kisses
&
stolen glances
heart raced faster
adrenaline
coursed
through veins
they tried
to
tell me
“It’s all wrong;
white is white
black is black
and that
would
never change”
but
you see,
that is the problem (in its entirety)
when I’m
with you
I don’t exist
you don’t exist
I’m not white
you’re not black
we
remain,
together,
iridescent.
